Privacy Policy

Overview
The Joy Project is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle any information when you visit our website or use our services.
Information We Collect
We collect minimal information to provide our services:
- Basic analytics data (page views, general location) to improve our content
- Email address if you choose to contact us
How We Use Information
Any information collected is used solely to:
- Respond to your inquiries
- Improve our website and services
- Send updates if you've requested them
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties.
Hosted Instances & Subscriptions
If you subscribe to a hosted instance of one of our tools (such as Vestry Stack or the Parish Prayer List), we collect the information needed to set up and manage it:
- Your parish or organization name and contact email
- Your subscription status and the web address of your instance
We use this only to provision your instance, communicate with you about it, and manage billing.
Payments
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Your payment card details are handled directly by Stripe under their security and privacy practices — we do not receive or store your full card number. We retain only limited billing records (such as your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and payment status). Please see Stripe's privacy policy for how they process payment data.
Data in Your Instance
Content that you and your members place in a hosted instance — for example prayer requests, files, and shared notes — is stored on our servers solely to run your instance. This content belongs to you; we do not use it for any purpose other than providing the Service, and we do not sell or share it.
When a subscription ends, the instance and its data are deleted after a short retention window. Please export anything you wish to keep before cancelling.
Email Updates
If you subscribe to our devotional emails, we store your email address to send them. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
Cookies
Our website and hosted instances use cookies where needed to keep you signed in and to remember your session. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time, though some features may not work without them.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a few trusted third parties to provide the Services:
- Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions.
- ESV Bible API (Crossway) — scripture text in our devotional tools.
Each handles data under its own privacy policy. We share only what is necessary for that service to function.
