Getting started

Your first steps

When you sign up, your instance is set up automatically and we email you its web address (and, for the Prayer List, your admin login). Here's what to do next.

Parish Prayer List

  1. Open your instance at the web address in your welcome email (e.g. https://yourparish.joy-project.org) and bookmark it.
  2. Sign in to your admin panel using the link and password in your welcome email. Change that password after your first sign-in.
  3. Set up email so your parishioners can receive their sign-in codes — follow the email setup guide. This is the one required step.
  4. Open the Manage section (top bar) and add your parishioners (name + email). They'll sign in with a one-time code — no passwords to manage. See managing your Prayer List for a walkthrough.
  5. Share your instance's web address with your parish. That's it.

Prefer passwords? Parishioners can also sign in with a password instead of an email code — but the email code is the simplest for most people, which is why email setup matters.

Vestry

Vestry needs no setup at all — there are no accounts and nothing to install.

  1. Open your instance at the web address in your welcome email.
  2. Create a room, give it a name, and (optionally) set a passcode and an expiry.
  3. Share the room link with your group. Files and notes live there until the room expires, then clear themselves away.
